Dan Jones, political science professor and owner of public opinion and marketing firm
Dan Jones and Associates, received the ASUU Lifetime Achievement Award. As student
body president Neela Pack says, “He will go to any length to ensure that his students
are achieving in the classroom and in life. With his expertise in the field and 35
years of teaching, I feel like I received a private school education at a public school
price.”

In addition, Peregrine Schwartz-Shea of political science received the University’s
Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Scholar Distinguished Mentor Award. This award recognizes
faculty who effectively guide graduate students and postdoctoral scholars throughout
their professional training in a continuing, multifaceted partnership sustained by
mutual respect and concern.

Lastly, Economics Associate Professor Haimanti Bhattacharya received the Faculty Fellow
Award from the University Research Committee for 2012-2013. With this award, she will
receive funding for her latest research project: “The Household Status of Women in
South Asia” - a project that includes examining different dimensions of women’s status
as compared to their household and individual levels.
