Teaching
This year, Marissa Diener, associate professor in family and consumer studies, was
awarded the U's Distinguished Faculty Service Award. Professor Diener has worked with
the Bennion Center to include service learning within her curriculum and is a strong
campus voice for its widespread application in higher education. Professor Diener
joins a history of teaching excellence that includes three Rosenblatt Prize winners,
six Distinguished Professors, 14 Distinguished Teaching Awards, five college and student
choice teaching awards and three anthropology faculty who are in the National Academy
of Sciences. In addition, the college recognized Kathleen Nicoll in geography and
Heather Melton in sociology as the junior and senior recipients of the CSBS Superior
Teaching Award.
