Masini: What the Scholarship Means to Me
Receiving a scholarship from the College of Social and Behavioral Science has been instrumental in my success. It has provided me the means to continue my education here at the U and has given me motivation to succeed. Receiving so much support from CSBS gives me more incentive to maintain a high personal standard for my academic success.
One thing that makes this scholarship so important to me is the high level of professionalism I see in my peers. In every class I can see just how serious the other students are about school. They are dedicated, intelligent students and that makes being a recipient of the Honor Roll Scholarship incredibly meaningful.
I have been a Marine for the past 8 years. In the Marine Corps our recognition comes in many forms. Often it is a medal or an award for significant achievements in the past. Other times our hard work is rewarded with more work. The scholarships which I have received from CSBS are a different form of recognition for me — they are an opportunity. Receiving Honor Roll Scholarships has not only recognized the hard work that I have put into my academic career, they have given me an opportunity to continue my success. It is more than recognition of past achievements — it is an investment in my future. It is easy to acknowledge one's past accomplishments but it is a risk to put resources into their future. CSBS scholarship donors have invested their resources in my education, and for that I am grateful.
