His company of 40 employees provides industrial rail, trucking and warehousing services to several multinational companies including Exxon Mobil and Shell Canada. VIP has grown over the years from a simple railcar storage and switching operation to more complex operations including the transloading of several different types of hazmat liquids and newly offered services such as tankcar repair and cleaning. Jon was honored to win the 2010 Young Entrepreneur Award and the 2014 Large Business of the year Award from the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce.
Jon hasn’t let his political education go to waste either. In 2006, at the age of 28, he became one of the youngest people ever elected to Sarnia’s City Council. Jon spent 8 years serving the community on City Council. While there, he served on the city’s Environmental Advisory Committee, and as member of the board of directors for the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) and the Lambton Area Water Supply System (LAWSS). In 2014, a year after starting another company, Dockside Industrial Park Inc., Jon chose not to run for re-election, opting instead to invest more of his time on his businesses and his family. Jon continues to be active in the community working closely with local municipalities, members of parliament and in 2017 he joined the board of directors at the Chamber of Commerce.
Jon and his wife Jeanette have five beautiful children.
