Marsha Gilford, Southwest Regional Director, Corporate Affairs for The Kroger Co., oversees government affairs, media relations, philanthropy and community relations for 139 Smith's store communities throughout a seven-state operational area. She has held her position as VP for the past 20 years. Marsha has served on numerous nonprofit and trade association boards throughout the west; currently serving on Three Square Food Bank (Las Vegas); Salt Lake Area Chamber, New Mexico Retail Association and Nevada Retail Association boards. She has also been recognized as one of 200 Top Women in Grocery by Progressive Grocer Magazine; Utah Business Magazine's "30 Women to Watch"; honored as Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Pathfinder.
In addition to her career at Smith's, Marsha's background includes television advertising sales and marketing. She is originally from Ohio and moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah, where she graduated with degrees in Anthropology and Psychology. She is married to Gordon LaFleur (retired secondary school educator) and mother of two wonderful adult children who live on opposite coasts—Seattle and New York City. Whippet Bailey seems to be the closest thing to a grandchild Marsha and her husband can expect in the near future.
