Elaine Peterson
BS Health, Society & Policy
Academic Program Manager
John A Moran Eye Center - University of Utah
Elaine started with the University of Utah in 1994, as part of the Health Sciences Development Office, and has been the Program Manager in Ophthalmology for 15 years. She oversees one ACGME-accredited residency program with a complement of twelve trainees, and seven non-ACGME fellowships with a total of eleven fellows. As such, she manages all of the credentialing-related tasks for seven different fellowship programs, in addition to all her other typical program administration responsibilities.
Elaine also has an interesting background: she describes herself as an "army brat," living on nine different army bases while growing up. Some of her favorite memories are from the three years she lived at Fort Clayton in the Panama Canal Zone. She loves spending time with her grandkids and her Shih Tzu, Boomer. She hopes to retire in June of 2019 and do more traveling. Elaine received her bachelor's degree in Health, Society and Policy from the U's College of Social and Behavioral Science.
