D. Brent Scott had a remarkable history of leadership throughout his life. After a short stint in the U.S. Navy from 1945-46, Mr. Scott earned his B.S. in psychology from The University of Utah. He founded Scott Machinery Company, where he served as its president for many years. He served as chair of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Utah, as a member of the Board of Governors of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of the Utah House of Representatives. At the University of Utah he was a member of the National Advisory Council, served as president of the Alumni Association, and as member of the Institutional Council. He played the lead role in forming the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Advisory Board and served as its founding chair.
